Know About Shaft Flex

The shaft flex of the club affects distance, control, and feel.

The shaft is the engine of the club. It should load during the downswing, then unload at impact, adding velocity to the ball. Stronger players that generate high clubhead speed typically need stiffer, heavier shafts, while players with slower swing speeds need more flexible, lighter shafts.

When the shaft is too flexible for the player, the shaft will release well after impact, causing the ball to slice, or it may release before impact, causing the ball to hook. A shaft the at too stiff will not load at all and will stay straight through the swing. In this case, the shaft will feel dead through impact.

The correct flex will feel active, but in control through impact. Not all flexes are the same, some stiffs are more stiff and some are more flexible.

Correct flex is dermined by identifying a players swing-speed, then matching it to the best flex options. Our staff can test your swing-speed and recommend the best options that will better suit your needs.
