Know About Perimeter Weighting

The location and amount of perimeter weighting, or lack thereof, can affect the distance and accuracy of the ball.

The optimal point of contact, or "sweet spot", of the clubface is about the size of a nickel on a classic muscle-back style clubhead. For each quarter of an inch away from the center of this spot, there can be a loss of distance between 8-12 yards. This means that heel or toe shots can lose significant distances of 30-50 yards.

Weighting is designed around the outside of the clubhead to improve energy transfer from the head to the golf ball; the loss of distance and accuracy is minimized while the overall consistency of the clubhead and forgiveness for mis-hits is improved.

Clubhead designs vary in the amount of and location of the weighting. New materials and manufacturing processeshave given way to new designs in game improvement technologies.

New, built-in technologies, such as extreme perimeter weighting, thing face technologies, face inserts, tungsten and titanium metals, and so forth make the clubhead even more forgiving and make it easier to get the ball into the air with more consistent distance.

These are just some of the many built-in technologies available. Our staff can help you identify which technologies will better suit your needs.
